Welp, I hope all of you States-siders voted safely today and are finding ways to say relaxed as we wait for ballots to be counted. I was able to vote early, so I’ve been trying to ease my anxiety by staying busy and avoiding the news.
So how about a little shoe shopping distraction in the meantime?
We all have one: that statement piece you bought on a whim that you ended up wearing for years. For me, these DKNY lace-up combat boots have been a closet staple whose cost per wear is now probably now a fraction of a cent. My husband bought them for me over 10 years ago, because at the time they were a stretch for my budget. Since then, I’ve worn them with everything from trousers to skirts to dresses. Some years they get more wear than others, but they always seem to come back into style. Right now, lug soles and combat boots are a huge trend, so of course I was excited to bring these out of hibernation. When I posted them on instagram the other day, I had so many inquiries, I found some similar options for those of you who might be looking for a pair of your own. Based on my experience, it’s an investment worth making!
- This pair by Theory is about the same price I originally paid for my boots many years ago (factor in. I’ve had great experience with Theory’s footwear, so I’m sure these are made to last. Also, the stretch panels will make breaking these in a cinch!
- Louise et Cie has a similar option for a more reasonable price. These also feature stretch panels on the back for different calf sizes.
- Circus by Sam Edelman has the least expensive pair for under $100. A good entry level option if you’re watching your budget!
