Brunch, shopping, and the company of tremendously Brunch, shopping, and the company of tremendously talented women — is there anything better? . I had the pleasure of being treated to all of the above at a trunk show featuring the newest collections from @jennycipolettijewelry and @sarahflint_nyc at one of the beautiful townhouses at @rosewoodwashingtondc. As a longtime fan of @jennycipoletti, it was an absolute pleasure to meet her IRL and see her stunning designs up close. I’ve always heard rave reviews about the comfort level of Sarah Flint’s shoes and I can now attest, that yes, the hype is very real (and the latest styles are extremely covetable). . I can’t tell you how many times we got this ques I can’t tell you how many times we got this question when we told people what we were doing for spring break, but it is possible! . @breckenridgemtn is one of the few ski resorts that stays open late in the season and statistically has great conditions through April. With our @epicpass we got 20% off our on-mountain lodging and were also able to ski/snowboard for no additional cost at nearby @vailmtn (which ended up being open later than we originally thought). I’d never done spring skiing out west and now I see why everyone raves about it. The weather’s fantastic, the snow feels amazing, and the mountains are stunning. . If you haven’t been to the quaint town of Marsha If you haven’t been to the quaint town of Marshall, Virginia, this is your sign to plan a getaway. . Just an hour’s drive from DC, this spot has all the components of a great weekend: great dining options, cute shops & laid back vibes. Here’s my recs: . Dining: @redtruckbakery - nationally known for their award-winning pies & cookbook, both @barackobama & @oprah are fans. We stopped in for a breakfast biscuit & pastries & were not disappointed. @thewholeox - a high-end independent butcher that offers gourmet foods in addition to mouthwatering meats & prepared foods. Grab lunch at one of their in-shop tables. @fieldandmain - the original reason for our visit, this is one of Virginia’s best restaurants & a fantastic dinner spot. . Shopping: @froststreetcollective - a beautifully-curated collection of vintage & antique furniture at very reasonable prices. Vintage - another great vintage furniture spot. Marshall might now be my go-to for unique furniture finds. . Lodging: The Rooms Up There - this cozy BnB offers a few charming rooms just a stones throw from all of these places. Charming & quiet, this was the perfect spot for an escape from the city. . . . A dinner date at @fieldandmain with our very good A dinner date at @fieldandmain with our very good friends, who’ve been telling us for too long how great this place is (spoiler alert: they were right!). . This delicious farm to table menu changes regularly with what’s available locally and seasonally, which means you can come back again and again and always find something different. My seared trout in coconut and harrisa broth was so delicious and satisfying, I’d love if it was on the menu year round! . They also do a mystery red and white wine (both excellent) and if you can guess the grape, it’s half off. Not to brag, but I nailed my white. 😏 . Pro tip: choose pieces you love equally for busine Pro tip: choose pieces you love equally for business & pleasure. . My key criteria is: . • Quality - Look for higher end fabrics that are easy to clean & wear well over time. Stitching is important too - take a good look before you buy, because this too will stand the test of time. • Fit - This should go without saying, but I’m totally guilty of buying because I love an item, only to realize I really don’t love it on me. It doesn’t matter how trendy or expensive an item is, if it doesn’t fit you well, you won’t wear it. Meanwhile, a black dress (like the cashmere knit I’m wearing above) can be totally simple, but if it fits you well, you will look like a million bucks. • Color - It hurts my fashionista soul so much to admit this, but neutrals are the workhorses of any great wardrobe. Does this mean color can’t be mixed in? Heck no! But if I’m buying a foundational piece I want to use with multiple looks, black, white, brown, and navy are the way to go. • Do I love it - At the end of the day, personal style is, well, personal. There’s many a wardrobe staple that just isn’t “me.” Never feel pressured to shoehorn something into your wardrobe just because it’s practical.
