Pub Dread – If you haven’t been to this Halloween-themed pop up bar yet (which features an epic Bowie homage), this should definitely be top of your list this weekend. Pub Dread will also be hosting a Halloween Benefit for Puerto Rico on the 31st with 100% of the proceeds going to Jose Andrés’s World Central Kitchen. The Dining Traveler is giving 5 pairs of tickets to this benefit – details here!
Spirit of Autumn at Artechouse – This interactive video installation is a playground for art lovers (and instagrammers) of all ages. Evening admission for 21+ features beautiful fall-themed cocktails as the installation changes to a nighttime experience!
MGM National Harbor Spa – I don’t know about you, but this is the time of year my skin starts to get dry and a good facial really helps with moisture retention. The Clarins MoistureQuench Facial I recently tried at the MGM National Harbor Spa made such a difference in my skin, I would recommend it to anyone who struggles with dry skin. They’re running a bunch of specials right now (including a discount on the MoistureQuench Facial), so check them out!
The Wharf -The hottest new area in DC just opened two weekends ago and I was lucky enough to get a preview tour from the fine folks at the Mandarin Oriental (located just steps away). The Wharf features loads of dining, shopping, and entertainment options (many of which are locally-owned) – Politics and Prose, Mike Isabella’s Requin, Kwame Onwuachi’s Kith and Kin (which features an awesome mural by Meg Biram), and 9:30 Club’s The Anthem, just to name a few. I was particularly excited about Pearl Street Warehouse, a restaurant and live music venue that reminds me of some of my favorite places in New Orleans!
Bottomless Brunch & Movie Night at Via Umbria – You’ve seen how good the food is in my recent post. Check it out for yourself this Sunday for a very reasonable $35/person. Movie night on the 31st features Italian-themed thriller I’m Not Scared + a three course pasta dinner with wine pairings.
Follow along with more of my DC (and elsewhere) adventures on instagram!

Wow it’s been so long since I’ve been to DC. I used to live there. Seems like a few great things to do next time I’m there.

Ah, I miss DC! I lived there for a few months while doing research at the Folger Shakespeare Library and I’ve been back for the odd conference and to visit a friend but I really want to plan a more extended visit. And I am ALWAYS down for a good Halloween shindig. Always.

That is so cool you did research there! My husband used to love going to shows at the Shakespeare Theater, but unfortunately we haven’t had time since we had a kiddo!
