sparkly blouse New Year's Eve outfit

Who’s ready to get a little bit *extra* this holiday season? After the lack of festivities this past year, I know I’m looking forward to making up for lost time and going all out. I’m ready for all the sequins, heels, faux fur, and *glamour!* If you’re looking for holiday outfit ideas, here are some of my favorite combinations and styling tips from past years.

metallic top holiday outfit

When in doubt, add metallic.

Nothing says “festive” like a sparkly top. I like to amp mine up with statement earrings, but keep it classy with black pants and pumps.

Keepsake mini dress holiday look

Don’t be afraid of the holiday color palette.

Sure it might seem cliché, but you can’t go wrong with a red or green party dress this time of year (bonus points if you can find one with both!). To keep it from becoming hokey, tone it down with classy accessories, like a quilted bag and black slingback heels.

Use gold accessories to brighten up a monochrome look.

This is one of my favorite styling tricks when I’m out of ideas or short on time. Anyone can do it! Just take a chic all-black outfit, like this top and trousers, and add chunky gold accessories, like statement earrings, a chain necklace, belt, or evening bag. It will instantly elevate your look!

Let the “hero top” shine.

I love to make a statement with a standout top with bows or ruffles. Keep the rest of the silhouette streamlined with slim pants and pumps. Stick to dangly earrings instead of necklaces to make the top the centerpiece.

Rent the Runway holiday outfit metallic suit

Rock a fun suit.

There’s something cool and unexpected about rocking a pantsuit to a holiday party. Go all out with metallic or keep it chill with a festive color (here and here).

C/Meo mini dress and Calzedonia tights

Winterize a mini dress with boots & tights.

It’s no secret I love a cute mini dress, but I’m less than enthused about freezing my legs walking to a holiday party. My go-to formula is a slightly sheer pair of tights and my favorite knee-high boots to make an outfit winter appropriate.

& Other Stories sweater and tartan skirt

Spice up your tartan.

I always think of tartan as a quintessential holiday print. To keep it from becoming frumpy, I like to style it with tall boots and a cute ivory sweater.
