When did basic become a bad word? Now more than ever, I appreciate the basics in my closet. The quality staples I can throw on in a pinch that go with everything and make my outfit look like a million bucks. Most recently, these include: a classic trench jacket, a perfect white t-shirt, flattering, yet comfortable black pants, and a classy little handbag. The trench and tee are recent additions courtesy of M.M. LaFleur (pretty much the reigning champion of quality workwear). When I heard they recently released a non-sheer t-shirt (!!!), I flipped. I’ve been searching for something like this for YEARS. Very work-appropriate under a blazer, but also French girl chic with jeans. And the trench is a piece that will never go out of style. I love the cropped length for styling with high-waisted pants, like this pair I got a couple years ago from Anne Fontaine. The whole look came together nicely with a new bag sent to me by Ora Delphine. I love the minimal ’90s design – definitely the little bag that goes with everything. Expect to see every piece pictured above sprinkled throughout many of my outfits to come!

I’ve always been a non-basic basics girl. I don’t do white (afraid of getting it dirty and it being see-through so this one may be a half solution!) so I go for black tees. And I don’t really do trousers (yay not working in an office office) so jeans are my basic pant.
That trench jacket is so cool, I love the shorter length of it!
I love that jacket!
Basics are classic, the ones that will never go away even the test of time. Love your crisp looking jacket and everything else you wear.
Loved this outfit on IG, so chic 🙂 xx
Did you size up/down for the jacket?
It runs true to size. I’m wearing an XS and it’s not too tight or too loose.
You’re a gem, thank you!
