Would you believe I wore something very similar to this over 9 years ago? I was so ahead of my time *smugface*. Seriously though, it’s funny to see certain trends come back around again (and play horribly into my hoarding tendencies). Personally, I love the latest spin on styling the biker short trend, which is decidedly more modern and much less ’80s. I decided to make mine a little more cocktail-appropriate by styling them with an oversized blazer and western-inspired heels for the recent opening of Officina with Capitol File Magazine. One part high-end Italian market, one part fancy Italian restaurant, one part upscale bar, this three floor establishment overlooking the Wharf is everything I want in an eatery. The market has a fantastic selection of cheese, charcuterie, meats, prepared sides, and wines. The first floor bar and cafe offers Italian street food favorites like arancino and carbonara fritters with a variety of cool cocktails. The upstairs restaurant features delicious pasta, vegetable and meat dishes from Masseria’s Michelin-star Chef Nicholas Stefanelli (one of my favorites). And if you’re looking for amazing views, head to the rooftop terrace for cocktails overlooking the Wharf and the nation’s oldest fish market (a must-see if you’re visiting the area). I sampled a little bit of everything at the opening and absolutely nothing disappointed. Another great reason to head to the Wharf!
