Workwear has undergone quite the transformation in the past year. From matching sweatsuits to house dresses, we’ve run the full gambit of comfy work from home options. But for many of us, our weekday outfits need to instantly “transformable” to business-appropriate when that surprise Zoom call pops up at a moment’s notice. For this reason, I tend to stick to a simple formula of solid color tops and stretchy pants I can throw a blazer over when I need to.
So when M.M. LaFleur invited to me to style a look from their new fall collection, I immediately gravitated towards the pieces I knew I’d wear the most. I’ll start with these incredibly flattering skinny pants. The high waist and seam detail reminds me of my favorite equestrian breeches (which might be why I love them so much). I styled them with a ribbed turtleneck I plan to wear with just about everything this winter. But the most important piece? The Zoom blazer to end all Zoom blazers. This slightly boxy, “borrowed from the boys” style blazer is so cool, I’m almost excited for my next video call to show it off. And it’s not so business-y you can’t throw it over a sweater and jeans on the weekend.
I’d like to give major props to M.M. LaFleur for their COVID-safe virtual styling sessions. I scheduled one with Chris. He was so helpful and knowledgeable about what pieces worked well together and how they fit, it was like an in-person shopping experience, but from the comfort of my own home. With all the inconveniences created by COVID right now, it’s nice to have a option like this that makes life easier!
Thanks M.M. LaFleur for partnering on this post!
