2020 closet hero: the cozy cardigan

During a year of working from home, upended childcare, strained socialization, and general socio-economic uncertainty, an article of clothing that feels like wearing a big hug is the hero piece we all need. So it’s probably no coincidence cozy cardigans are a trend this fall. When I saw this $20 oversized version online, I immediately bought it in two colors. Perfect for backyard social distancing activities (like how I wore it above for dinner with my parents), zoom calls, or just throwing over your PJs on a slow Sunday morning. This is one of those staples you’ll be using all winter long and well into spring. I’ve seen lots of cute options lately to add to my collection. Here are my favorites:

• The Fringed One: I actually have one in black that’s very similar to this and I absolutely love it. It gives a boho western vibe to almost any look.
• The Matching Set: Go full-on it girl and embrace the matching set trend made popular by Katie Holmes. It’s basically a ready-made outfit – just add jeans!
• The ’90s Ribbed Duster: Growing up in the ’90s, this extra-long ribbed cardigan brings back all kind of “Beverly Hills 90210” nostalgia. Love that you can wear it like a statement top, too.
• The Extra Warm One: This one looks like just the ticket on a chilly day. Perfect with a knit beanie and bonus points for extra long sleeves if you forget your gloves!
