wearing & Other Stories hoops, For Love & Lemons top, Hugo Boss pants (on sale!), GIA x Pernille Teisbaek mules, Carolina Santo Domingo straw bag
I loved wide leg pants in the late ’90s and early ’00s. In fact, I vividly remember a conversation in high school French class when our teacher asked us what could possibly be flattering about the baggy pants we loved so much. “They make your waist look tiny!” we shouted in unison. When paired with a crop top or tiny t-shirt, one might argue they create much the same effect Louis XVI style-dresses did for the women of Marie Antionette’s day with their extra-wide skirts and corsetted tops. Ok, maybe not quite exaggerated, but you get the picture.
This summer I’ve very much been embracing the return of this trend albeit on a more grown-up scale. These trousers have been a regular favorite of mine with ribbed tank tops and flat sandals, but honestly I’ve really missed dressing up. So with this look, I fancied up the trousers with a puffed sleeve top and heeled mules.
The crop top/wide-leg pant trend doesn’t show any sign of going away this fall. In my recent internet shopping ventures, I’ve come across loads of cute little tops and sweaters that can be paired with loose jeans or trousers. Linked my favorites below!

Those pants are super classy! They make the waist look tiny and the legs look longer so it’s a great piece!
