When I first started this blog many moons ago, it was as a creative outlet for my artistic side as much as it was for my love of fashion. And what motivates me to keep posting is fun and inspiring projects, oftentimes proposed by brands that I’m privileged to work with. Recently, Donald J. Pliner footwear offered me a very cool and unusual challenge in conjunction with their SS 2017 #ArtOfFun campaign – draw artistic inspiration from their spring collection. These pretty slides immediately made me think of the beautiful shoes worn in portraits of elegant men in their pajamas and intricately-patterned banyans as they enjoy a glass of brandy by the fire. These images create such a wonderful balance between elegance and comfort that I feel is often hard to come by. Don’t get me wrong, I love a fitted dress and pair of stilettos as much as the next girl, but there’s something to be said for the luxury exuded by pajama dressing. How does art inspire your style?

Oooh yes! Love this!! That kimono is amazing and I love the looser fit of those pants!
Not sure how my style is inspired by art, but I’m sure it is! Haha. Maybe abstract art when I do my mixed prints 😉

I love comfortable but elegant outfits. I think it’s a very delicate balance sometimes hard to achieve. I also like to draw inspiration from art, particularly colours or prints that you can then wear as statement pieces in a look. Your kimono camisole and bag are adorable, and those slip ons do seem very comfy 🙂
Have a great week ahead, dear E!
