If you’ve been following my instagram, you might have noticed I was recently out of the country. This past weekend I had a good friend’s wedding as a pretty fantastic excuse to visit the beautiful city of Lisbon. Since it would be our first time leaving the country without our little one, we didn’t want to be gone too long (we’d miss him too much!), we only stayed for a long weekend, but I’m still surprised by how much we were able to see and do in that short amount of time. One of our favorite things to do when we first arrive in a new city is get out and walk. It’s a great way to get your bearings and make mental notes of wear you might want to eat or grab a drink later. And Lisbon is great workout! It’s a bit of a hilly city (think San Francisco with cobblestones), so it’s in your best interest to wear flats with a rubber sole.
We wandered up the hill past numerous tiled buildings to Embaixada, an absolutely stunning building filled with unique shops and restaurants. We perused a few of the clothing stores and adorable children’s shops before ultimately stopping at Atalho Real for a delicious charcuterie board. This restaurant came highly recommended by our good friend and honestly reminded us quite a bit of the Partisan, one of our DC faves. Afterward we took a stroll around Jardim França Borges before eventually sitting down in one of the charming garden cafés to people watch. The city is so laid-back and relaxing, it hardly took any time to get into “vacation mode.” Stay tuned for more details about our trip in future posts!

I love the way the stripes on the dress fall when it drapes down! Such a great piece.
