On those rare weekends when we don’t have anything planned, one our favorite things to do is lazily shop and eat our way around Union Market. So when we found ourselves in such a delightful situation this past Saturday, we headed over under the guise of stocking up on ingredients for a few recipes we planned to make this week. In addition to the aforementioned “Dining In” cookbook, we’ve been loving Colu Henry’s “Back Pocket Pasta” – a collection of quick recipes with minimal ingredients that are perfect for weeknights. Our first stop was nearby Litteri’s – a hidden oasis amongst industrial-looking wholesale stores that specializes in gourmet Italian food. We often come here to stock up on good canned tomatoes, olive oil, and, of course, wine. Next up was lunch at Buffalo & Bergen where I had my very first knish and my husband got the reuben bagel sandwich to end all bagel sandwiches (I’m literally drooling all over my keyboard just thinking about it). Afterward, I had to make an obligatory stop at my favorite local home goods store, Salt & Sundry, and swing by the Nova Bossa Pop-up shop, which featured luxury accessories and jewelry from Latin American designers (I’m still kicking myself for not buying these Paula Mendoza earrings!). Last stop was Red Apron for some of their delicious olives for the road!

A quick blurb about what I wore: it was rainy and a little chilly, so I layered some recent acquisitions from the past few weeks. The hat and faux suede leggings were semi-practical finds from the Alexandria Warehouse Sale (I always have the best luck there!). And the fisherman’s knit was part of a really great thrift store haul.

Ooh I love that jacket with the shorter sleeves over the sweater! Such a cozy weekend look! And that sounds like the perfect way to spend a day with no plans! My days with no plans = me sitting in my pjs all day at home, haha. I’m so boring

This looks like an indie pop artist type of vibe. The jacket and the sweater certainly made a good combination together. I love those activities, just shopping and eating around.
