Last weekend, B and I were invited to an Early Mountain Wine Dinner at Airlie – part of a series of a spring events Airlie will be hosting in the coming weeks. This was my first time trying Early Mountain wines and I was very impressed. The Virginia wine scene has been growing steadily over the years, but not every vineyard is able to compete at the same level of quality that you would typically find in California or Oregon. These were easily that good, if not better. And we absolutely loved Airlie. The food is all locally-sourced, most of which is grown on-premise in their organic garden. And the tasting menu was quite creative, too – we particularly enjoyed the spring mélange of vegetables, which incorporated fiddlehead fern with goat cheese mousse! If you’re looking for a place to have a special Mother’s Day Brunch, definitely consider making it a day trip out to this beautiful spot. Can’t wait to share more photos from our stay in future posts – stay tuned!
