FAO Schwartz giraffe

Alright so cat’s (er, giraffe’s?) out of the bag – we’re expecting! I wanted to share it with you all sooner but I thought it would be better to wait as long as possible just to be on the safe side. And it’s going to become pretty apparent in future photos, so there’s probably no point in “hiding” it anymore. Don’t worry, I’m not going to go all mommy blogger on you. If anything, I will be looking for advice from any of you seasoned veterans who definitely probably know much more than I do. This blog will remain very much devoted to fashion with the occasional recipe sprinkled in here and there (and maybe, if you can tolerate it, one or two posts on baby decor and shopping). If the baby stuff interests you at all I started a Pinterest board that you can view here. In the meantime, if you have any pregnancy or child-rearing tips you’d like to share, I’ll take anything and everything you’ve got!

PS We just found out the baby’s sex today – what do you think we’re having? 🙂

OMG I am so excited for you!!!! Congrats! I have no idea on gender guesses–I really suck at those. And I have four kids but don't worry I always feel like I have no idea what I am doing. I cannot wait to see all of your maternity fashion. I could not tell AT ALL!!! You are so tiny! But I can't really compare because I always get huge immediately. Off the cuff I would guess you're having a boy? But again I am always wrong. I cannot wait to hear and see more!

A million congrats!!! I always want to say ladies with good style and taste are going to have a girl, because how amazing to be born into that kind of fashion education (and closet access)…but I kinda see you being a great boy mom. 😉

Many congratulations! Hmm, is it a girl? I have no clue…

I have many, many tips haha but I'll just share a few from my dorky reading. The main thing is that everyone will have an opinion. It's your kid and you and your husband have to do what you think is right. The other main tip is that baby fashion/toys/gear is ridiculous. Don't fall into the trap. You will also end up with multiples of the same things. People mean well. Don't get many articles of clothing or toys because people love to gift them.
For pregnancy, just take it one day at a time. It is both a thrilling and daunting time. Pregnancy pillows like the snoogle (full body) or the wedge pillow (I preferred this for the belly) are great. Enjoy your time with each other and take a baby moon if you can do it. Traveling with a baby is a whole other ballgame 😉
Read all the books you can now re: pregnancy and sleep training! I also personally loved following Gina Ford's methods and it helped create structure for our daughter,
Anyway, yes please let me know if you'd like book suggestions, etc. Congrats again!

This is so so helpful! Definitely taking note of Gina Ford for sleep training (I like what I see on her website!). And yes, I've heard the same thing about not getting too much stuff!! I'd love to hear your book recommendations, too!

That is really exciting! Congrats! I'm not a mom but I got my friend's baby a wubbanub as a pacifier it has a little stuffed animal on the end and her little girl adores it. One of the mom's in my dance class has a backup of her kid's favorite toy in case anything happends to it.

Oh E I am so excited for you!!!! As for the sex, no idea but I know s/he will be a beautiful, kind, lovely person like you and your Mr! As for advice, everyone has it, and I'm happy to share my experiences with you, just let me know. Best baby items we had were an Ergo carrier (worked on 6'5" tall K and 5'3" me as well as my mom, front and back, and lightweight), a Boppy pillow (not just for nursing, great for propping baby up and all sorts of other things), and a stroller that is lightweight and truly can fold up with one hand (we had one of the basic Maclarens but that was years ago, they're probably lightyears better). Nothing else is really needed except your love. Thrilled for you and your family! <3

Congrats mama! Is it a boy? I can't really give you any advice as I've only been a mom for a month, but take a nice long maternity leave if you can!
