With our new president and vice president being sworn in tomorrow, I finally feel like there’s a light at the end of this dark tunnel. I have great hope that this administration will unite us as Americans instead of driving us apart. Stay safe tomorrow everyone. Brighter days are ahead!

I like to take my time and I believe this results in a more carefully curated wardrobe with items that last (the trench coat and boots I'm wearing above being two examples!). Since January is a good time to take stock of what we have and what we actually need, I wrote up a blog post with my "slow" shopping tips for getting exactly what you want and cutting out the closet excess. This time of year is always tough and it’s even harder with COVID restrictions. If anyone of you are in need of a little self care right now, I put together a blog post with COVID-safe activities that get me through the long winter months. Link in bio!

I wish I could say I never saw something like yest I wish I could say I never saw something like yesterday's events coming, but honestly, with the lengthy campaign of misinformation and pitting Americans against each other, it's not surprising. Watching these events unfold in my own backyard was heartbreaking and appalling.
.
But last night, after watching the debate unfold on the Senate floor, I'm feeling hopeful. The Senate, the House, the VP, and many brave congressional staffers returned to finish the job in the face of traumatic events. If that doesn't inspire faith in democracy, I don't know what does.
.
Of course there's no denying there's a huge chasm in our country that will take years to heal. But I trust our next leader, President Biden, will set us on the right path.

So my husband and I have been coming up with little celebrations of our own. The other night we dressed up & planned a holiday-themed cocktail hour around our @farnientewinery Hosted at Home virtual wine tasting.
.
We served winemaker Greg Allen's Dolce Sidecar Cocktail featuring the late harvest Dolce wine from our Hosted at Home tasting. Perfect for the holidays! Here's how to make it:
.
✨ Dolce Sidecar Cocktail ✨
.
2 fl oz brandy or cognac
2 fl oz Dolce Napa Valley or a late harvest white dessert wine
3 Luxardo cherries
1 large tangerine wedge
½ fl oz simple syrup
1 cup ice
.
1. Muddle ingredients in a cocktail shaker for ten seconds
2. Serve either in a rocks glass with ice or strained into a martini glass with no ice. (We garnished ours with a couple of the Luxardo cherries!)
.
Check out my latest blog post for the perfect cheese board to pair with this yummy cocktail and tips for how to make your evening feel festive and special! #farnientewine
