I apologize for disappearing for almost a week! I promise it was for a good reason – District of Chic was undergoing a much-needed facelift. What do you think of the new look?

Onto more pressing matters… Am I guilty yet of wearing these shoes too much? It’s easy to forget what an important investment a nice pair of flats are and how often you’ll wear them until you find that perfect pair. I wore this outfit to meet up with some friends from college that I hadn’t seen in much too long for brunch at Bayou Bakery, one of my favorite casual spots in Arlington (their beignets and smoked andouille dog are delicious!). Later, we had afternoon snacks with another good friend at Copperwood Tavern, a place I’ve been dying to try, not just because I’ve heard great things about the food, but also because the very cool rustic interior was done by Maggie O’Neill, whose other interiors include Lincoln, Teddy and the Bully Bar, and Capitale, just to name a few. As expected, it’s a very cool space, and the food is just as tasty. Having not spent much time in Shirlington in recent years, we’re hoping to explore it more in the future. What are you favorite restaurants lately?

The blog looks great! I am trying not to read too much of your food related posts because I am in the Whole 30 right now and I can’t have bread and the word bakery is making me drool! If I had those cute little shoes I would wear them all the time too!

This is my go to weekend look! So chic and easy to put together. I hear you on the flats. I bought a pair a few months back and I find myself wearing them most of the time. Happy weekend!

The blog looks great! Just discovered it. I’m a DC-based blogger too. I rewear the same flats over and over. It’s sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more you wear them, the more broken-in and comfortable they get, so the more you wear them… etc.

Very true. I always end up running my flats into the ground before replacing them.

Love the scarf detail. You’re so right, I forget how much daily wear I get out of good flats until I find them!
