orange crush

orange crush

I apologize for the cheesy title. I should have called this "Fanta" or "Cheez-It" or something. This jacket was one of my scores from Megan's and my successful shopping trip on Saturday. I realized today that I've been steadily stocking up on electric orange clothing items and accessories in recent months, which is odd because I'm not usually an orange person...

orange crush

Next order of business: we're taking a little trip to Richmond this weekend and I need some recommendations! Where should I eat? Most importantly, where should I shop? It's been a while since I've been to the Commonwealth's capital and I want this visit to count!

Zara blazer
Express t-shirt
can't remember where the belt came from
vintage, thrifted and Madewell bangles
Chanel purse
Miu Miu shoes

Orange is such a happy, optimistic color and it's lucky that it's "a la mode" these days because it means the hues are much richer and more saturated than we are used to (which I'm guessing is why you are suddenly drawn to it). You look beyond chic.

You must shop at Need Supply in Richmond! Beyond cool! My friend who lives there recommends Eurotrash (despite the name). Love Richmond, love your blog!

I'm loving the whole orange/red/pink togetherness I've been seeing lately. Orange is a hard color to pull off, but you are doing it beautifully. Kudos!

I'm in love with all the colors this season. I really want to find a pink blazer. It's hard to wear such a bright color. You definitely know how to wear orange.

Ah, such a flair... the colour of that blazer (and the pairings you smartly chose) is gorgeous. I have a leather Calvin Klein tote in that colour and although it's pretty bright (and was more expensive than I would care to remember), I have never regretted it. This lovely photo reminds me so!

I love, love the blazer and shoes combo! I live in Richmond...sure wish you'd be my personal shopper for the weekend;) How long will you be here? You'd probably be fine to do most of your shopping in and around Carytown. Pink, Clementine consignment, Halcyon Vintage. Eating - so many options!! One of my favorite date night dinner spots is Zeus Gallery Cafe in the Museum District. Happy to share other info, but don't want to hog space! Have fun!

Wow, that's an amazing blazer! (not to mention the shoes!) I really like the simplicity of this outfit with the bold color accents. I've been drawn more to orange clothing items myself, seeing so many great examples, but still don't have any in my closet...

Fab sleek look here! Richmond is my hometown, and I am so proud of its many great vintage and consignment shops. As another reader suggested, you can't miss Carytown - on that one strip is The Hall Tree (consignment store), Clementine (consignment boutique), and Bygones (vintage clothing). Just a short drive from there on N. Robinson St. is Halcyon, another charming vintage shop where I've had great luck - I've never left empty-handed. For dining - the restaurant at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, or Balliceaux can't be beat! I wish you good shopping kharma! Patrice

Your shoe collection is to die for. Love how you took such a bright piece and kept it from looking costume-y at all. The pink bits in the belt and shoes are a fun take on the color blocking theme going on this spring!

The orange paired with the pink is genius! You make cool twists like that seem so obvious so I think why haven't I seen more of this before? You look rad!

Richmond is wonderful. I recommend having lunch at Garnett's. If the weather is nice, you can borrow one of their picnic baskets and eat in the park across the street. It's in a lovely neighborhood! Kuba Kuba is also fantastic, if you are a Cuban food fan.

Richmond! Eats: Kuba Kuba, Tobacco Company, Black Sheep, Millies for brunch. Shopping: Halcyon Vintage, Need Supply, Roan in Carytown for awesome splurges. Visit the VMFA (virginia museum of fine arts), they expanded it last year and it's amazing. Also the Valentine Museum has a costume exhibit.
