I put these shoes on and asked B what he thought and he responded with his usual “they’re reaaal nice, sweetheart,” laced with the usual hint of mockery that makes me want to pop him, even though he and I both know his input has precious little to no effect upon my shoe decisions.  Yes, these are the games that we play.

B bought this antique bracelet from the 1940s for me when we were in New Mexico.  It’s supposed to be a Christmas present, but I’m not very good at waiting for the respective holiday when the gift is already in my hot little hands. B’s mom is an avid collector of Native American jewelry, so she researched the artist’s stamp on the bracelet and was able to identify it as a Bell Trading Post piece.  Click the link to read a bit of history, but I recommend searching for more Bell’s pieces online, because they’re all quite beautiful.

Hanako66 of Through the Looking Glass had the greatest idea to ask me and a few other DC bloggers some questions about how we would introduce a newcomer to DC.  Here are my answers and I encourage you to check out the other bloggers she featured, as well, because they all recommended great places to eat and unique things to do in DC.

And thank you so much Nearly Stylish for the award!

Well, I think your shoes are real nice. For real! Joe does the same thing when I ask him about fashion-y things, and then I promptly disregard everything he has said.

The bracelet is everything I love about Native American jewelry–bold and delicate by turns. And the shoes, well, you know they're freaking sweet. It's so funny, when I show my husband things I want, he sort of looks at me funny and makes a smart remark, but when I actually GET said item and am wearing it, he'll compliment me. Then I'll say, "But dear, you hated it last week," and he'll say, "I don't remember that," or "Nah, I just have to see it on you."

I'm excited to read your Beginners Guide to DC–we're spending New Years there and I've never been (beyond driving through).

Anyway, awesome little cowboy boots. 🙂

Those shoes are so cute!! I am so glad you got them and they look adorable with this outfit. Oh and I sooo know the feeling, every time I ask my bf his opinion on something like that, he gives me the same kind of answer, with the same tone and I want to kill him. He is lucky he is cute! LOL

the conversation between you and your husband sounds like it was taken from me and my boyfriend… he never asks questions, but whenever i walk out he's like, "hhmmm… well THATS interesting." … oh well, i say all of this to say that at least *i* love those shoes. its rare to see such an intricate design on shoes these days.

glad you got my smashing pumpkins reference! i was like 6 but i remember SINGING AT THE TOP of my lungs to this song… gosh the 90s were great.
