Headed back to the Cape! (our annual beach vacation could not have come at a better time 😅)

We loved the quaint town of Eastham so much last year, we decided to go back. A few of the things I’m looking forward to revisiting this year:

- Breakfast pastries from @pbboulangeriebistro (and maybe some delicious French food for dinner too!)
- Splashing around with my son on Campground Beach
- Lobster rolls and clam strips from @4940brickhouse
- Fresh seafood dinners from @macsmarketkitchen
- Bike rides to Coast Guard Beach
- Visiting the seals at Chatham Pier
- Cones from @icecream.cafe

Grateful.
Grateful it wasn't worse.
Grateful my husband is alive. Last Thursday night, our porch collapsed on us when a tree fell from what we now know was a freak tornado that came on without warning. We had just gotten up to go inside when the weather seemed dangerous. I made it to the door, but my husband didn't make it in time.
Grateful to our wonderful neighbors who heard me screaming and called 911, and kept us calm until help arrived.
Grateful to @arlingtonvafd for arriving so quickly and rescuing my husband from the wreckage.
Grateful to all the doctors and nurses at @virginiahospitalcenter for taking amazing care of my husband and getting him home far quicker than we hoped.
Grateful to my superhero dad and his incredible team of workers for clearing the tree, mounds of debris, and sealing our home until the roof and porch can be replaced.
Grateful to my mom for looking after my son and giving him stability and normalcy during a very chaotic and scary time.
Grateful to every neighbor and friend who helped me bag up belongings, watched my son, visited my husband in the hospital, and offered words of encouragement this past week. We *literally* could not have done it without you! ❤️

The @lyledc is an art-lover's dream and I am 100% here for it.

But aesthetics aside, the Lyle has many thoughtful touches that made this one of the most relaxing stays in recent memory. If you're looking for a DC hotel in an unbeatable location, I cannot recommend this place enough.

With summer vacation on the horizon, I put together a long over-due guide to Hot Springs, Virginia - a beautiful town nestled in the mountains with loads of outdoor activities, great food and accommodations, and within driving distance of DC.
