A bunch of friends and I trekked out to VA on Saturday for a Persian New Year’s party.  Wasn’t sure what to expect, as I’ve never been to a Persian New Year’s party before, but it ended up being an incredible time.  Highlights included one of the most impressive buffet-style spreads I’ve ever seen, foosball mastery, experiments in outdoor fire building, Lady Gaga dance parties with old people (Gaga fans, too!!), and lots and lots of inappropriate jokes.  Got to spend time with some good friends I hadn’t seen in a while this weekend, too, which always makes life worth living 🙂

This blazer was a hand-me-down, so to speak, from one of my mother’s friends.  She bought it never wore it and I’m so glad I was able to nab it, because it is the softest blazer I have ever owned.  The shoulder pads and length are a pretty major plus, too.

Express blazer
Topshop top
Zuni turquoise and silver bracelets
Seven jeans
Zara flats
vintage Ralph Lauren clutch

What a great blazer and the cut of those jeans is to die for. They look amazing! Great detail on the flats, very Persian-looking 🙂 (also, love the title but now I have that song stuck in my head)

I see this and think, as always, you are one classy bitch (by bitch I mean lady, but lady sounds kinda old-fashioned and I'm trying to stay young and hip).

Hmmm I think I need to own an oversized clutch, this one is so perfect!

E, i am fascinated with your fabulous outfit.
I love the classy and professional look.

I would love to see the Persian New Year's Party
if there's one near my place.

the proportions here are great! persian new year sounds kind of fantastic – i saw your tweet this morning ("persians throw great parties") and thought it a bit cryptic at the time, but now its all coming together for me! 🙂

You're so lucky you're so leggy and tall (or you appear to be tall) –I didn't even realize you were in flats until about the third photo! I love this. It's chic and simple. And Persians are generally AWESOME so I'm not surprised to hear that you had fun.

i can't believe you're wearing flats! your legs go on for MILES! gorgeous!

Reply

oh.my god. i need. those pants.
loove them.

Reply

The jeans are amazing! The outfit is simply gorgeous.

How do your legs look THAT long when you're only wearing flats? In my mine you're like 6'2! If you tell me you're 5'2 I'll be very sad, so please don't tell me that. I ADORE this look. If I rocked pants half this well, I'd wear them every day.

I have some jeans like these E, I was struggling to sort out how to wear them! Now I am not! 🙂

Fab look and love the flats! 😀

I like the color of your denim trousers, really great! nice contrast with the beige/powder ballerinas,

You look amazing in this ensemble. I love how the high-waisted pants and the long blazer give you such height, although I have a suspicion you're tall anyways:)

Ahah, yes Persians have some of the best food at Persian parties. Love that blazer and the flats, clutch, braclets, top, well everything!

Reply

If jeans can look elegant… you totally make them do that! 🙂 Love the look!

Reply

LOVE that blazer. I have one similar in length and color, but I feel like you have to have a very thin frame to pull it off and still look feminine. So, sigh, I will leave the expert blazer-wearing to you. You look great!

Ahh, i love your wide leg trousers! I always envy people are able to wear them, b/c i can't, due to the fact that i'm so petite; can never find a right pair for me . . . But you look FAB!

Nothing like a soft and cosy jacket. Lucky you for 'snatching' such a beautiful blazer…

Reply

i'm always so wary of trouser-like denim, mainly because at 5'4" i feel i'm too short to do it justice. however i'm digging this look. you're inspiring me to attempt to branch out a bit…
