The Altogether

The Altogether

For quite a while now, I’ve been searching for the perfect mesh insert dress. Initially, I was Hell-bent on a white one, but I was looking at my Helmut Lang tunic the other day, imagining its infinite possibilities, when the light bulb went off that a black one was already within my grasp. And I love how wearing a strapless dress underneath shows off the spinal shape of the tunic. If I had any doubts about my investment in this piece, they have since disappeared.

Helmut Lang top
H&M dress
Maison Martin Margiela shoes
Hermes bangle
Lauren Merkin clutch

PS Yes! Yes! Yes!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention how much I appreciated you letting me know that one of your friends had the hip dysplasia surgery done! I am getting more nervous by the day, so that makes me a bit more comforted! Glad to hear that she is more comfortable! 🙂

YES this piece was definitely a good fashion investment. i'm really in love with the helmut lang top, and i love how you've layered it here. perfect. ~joelle

I thought it was a whole dress as well! You styled it so well, though – you look incredible!

Are you going to a black tie dinner? 'Cause that's how hot you look!

I love the racer-type back of this tunic, the strapless does works perfectly and doesn't take away from it at all. Fabulous idea 😉

Gasping for air… I love. Love. the back of that tunic. I'm sort of trying to figure out how the tunic looks without the dress, but I hardly care. UHMazing. I would wear that combo in a second.

And I can't wait to see what your new investment isss (pretend I'm saying that in a singsongy voice, bc I would be if I weren't typing it, lol). Shopbop really is evil. I would consider Barneys the place where Satan resides in my life 😉

Wow! You sure now how to style your investment pieces 😉 It looks like one dress to me (I actually don't know where the tunic starts and the dress ends). I definitely think going strapless was a smart choice to show off the structure of the HL. Gorgeous!
