it's all been lost before so there's nothing to lose

This was for a magical night at Blue Ridge, a place that I absolutely despise, partly because the service is awful and partly because my friends seem to make me go there so damn much (probably just for the special thrill of seeing me seethe).  I can go into more reasons why I hate this place, but then this post would become a rant and that would open a whole Pandora’s box of rants just waiting to be explored.  Anyway, despite being so blatantly ignored by the bartender (1, 2, 3 people standing at the bar, I kid you not), I had a fine time catching up with friends.  So thrilled it was finally warm enough to wear a slinky dress.  Sometimes I look at this dress and think the green panel on the shoulder gives it a gladiator-like quality.  Thoughts?

it's all been lost before so there's nothing to lose

Alexander Wang dress
Young, Fabulous and Broke cardigan
KMRii bag
necklace from a boutique in Hoboken
Hermes bangles
H&M knee socks
Finsk heels

PS B thinks Blue Ridge makes a “damn fine Manhattan,” but I don’t drink old man drinks so I wouldn’t know.

Oh my, that dress is amazing. I don't know if I could pull it off, but you look great! I love the color of the panel.

And those socks! Why don't I have socks like that yet?!

Loving that dress!

Possibly gladiator but fabulous whatever the description. How could anyone ignore you in that dress? The bartenders are insanely inept and fashion senseless.
I have never tried a Manhattan but am open to old people drinks. 🙂

Oh, the asymmetry of the dress is beautiful! It looks like it belongs on the wall of a gallery. And those Finsk heels are gorgeous! They remind me of a more architectural version of the Proenza Schouler shoes.

I absolutely adore that dress. So pretty on you!

I've never heard of blue ridge, the menu looks okay, but it is the total DC local farms/organic trend lately. Which reminds me, have you been to 8407 Kitchen Bar in Silver Spring? Same locavore theme, but I had some good food there on Saturday (although service wasn't wonderful I will admit)?

love the dress, so funky!

Not gladiator at all, very unique and unexpected, I love the architecture of it. Never been to Blue Ridge and now no reason to because I don't drink Manhattans either and I hate rude bartenders 🙂 Your shoes are amazing and love them with the socks!!

Wow I'm in love with your heels!! So original. They stand out. I like manhattans from time to time and think of them more as an old lady drink. Either way, probably not a fact I should advertise! 😉

Knee socks. I die. And you're a badass gladiator.

I've never had a "manhattan"…wtf is in those? I feel I should know this, as alcohol and I are bff.

i love the side panel on the dress! it almost looks like you started putting on a jacket and only got 1 sleeve on. it definitely adds some interest. i love it with the black socks. ~joelle

I don't do old man drinks either. Hello bubbly!

Yeah, this is one of my favorites! So chic and lovely. The panel gives it extra dimension, and you look *so* pretty in these photos! PS The Finsk shoes will be mine someday when I'm not in the poorhouse! They're my dream shoe.

Amazing dress!! Alexander Wang is amazing with his designs. I loved the way you styled it with the knee high socks and the cardigan. Super cute. As for the bartender, it happens to me all the time. I guess we just need to be more assertive and start throwing bar napkins at the back of their head or something. I'll let you know how it works for me;)
