You know what’s strange?  You would think that this whole style blog would make me want to blow wads of cash on new things all the time, but I’ve actually found it has quite the opposite effect on me. Since I started blogging, I find I get a lot more value out of my clothing.  I’m more inspired to wear my clothing in new ways so I feel less dissatisfied with the existing pieces in my closet – does that make sense?  Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always been the type of girl to wear my favorite pieces to shreds, but working them into new ensembles seems to keep my restless “style spirit” content.  Anyway, I remember getting this dress two years ago as a possible rehearsal dinner option for my wedding.  I didn’t wear it then, but I’ve worn it for tons of other occasions.  Maybe it’s not as trendy now, but it’s so light and airy, I can’t resist busting it out on warm Spring days.  Oh and I could not be more excited about these pale blue shades I found at H&M ($6!!!).

H&M sunglasses
bracelets from New Mexico

I know what you mean!! Being creative with outfits means finding new use for what you have and seeing how many different ways you can style it. At least that's what I've found myself doing!

Love the shades too ~ what a bargain 🙂

Blogging has definitely had this effect on me also (finding new ways to wear old things) but it's also made me find new ways to wear new things… which I don't already own… So I probably end up spending a lot more money anyway haha.

Blue shades?! How awesome and for $6, it cant get any better than that.

That dress is purely chic! But I loved your vintage colored bracelets so much!

And you're so rgiht, blogging over chictopia or on your own, makes you think about newer ways to wear your clothes. I've been still buying much but only special items and little accessories to add new ways!

I think this is the kind of dress that surpasses trends anyway, it's so beautiful! And my, those are fantastic shades!

I agree — blogging does encourage (and dare I say enable?) a bit more creativity, so there seems to be endless possibilities in one's closet! (:

LOVE those sunnies!! LOVE that dress! And oh, I SO agree with you! Since starting my style blog I have gotten so much more wear out of my clothes. I makes it so you can't just wear the same thing over and over and over (which I certainly had a tendency to do!).

What a lovely dress! Definitely worth wearing over and over… especially when it looks so good on you. I really like it with the sunglasses and sandals, too.

I agree that starting a blog is definitely inspiring me to try to figure out lots of different ways to wear what I have…and in particular, to wear more often the pieces that I rarely wear. (Of course, seeing other bloggers' beautiful clothes gives me ideas for new pieces to thrift as well!)

I love the dress! The print is incredible. I wish I could say blogging had the same effect on me. I really hardly have any desire for new things when I don't read blogs, but when I do, I want things so much. Maybe that's different from not getting lots of value out of my clothes, though.
