Uggh, who would have thought we’d still be battling the pandemic going into fall of 2020? It’s a tough reality to face, but getting out of the house whenever possible helps me get through the really hard days. For this reason, I’ve come to embrace the face mask. It gives me a sense of security, the freedom to live my life as normally a possible, and honestly it’s kind of a fun new addition to my outfits. I’ve amassed quite the collection, so I thought I’d give a rundown of my favorites for running errands, outdoor activities, and dressier occasions.

  • The Most Versatile Mask – I’ll start with this set of solid color masks, because they’re the most practical for everyday use. These are highly-rated on Wirecutter and with good reason. They’re easily adjustable with elastic drawstring ear loops and all-important built-in nose bridge wire.  And even though they’re a bit thick with double-layered fabric and filter pocket, I think they’re quite soft and breathable.
  • The All Day Mask – Masks made from high-quality denim? Yes please! These masks are very understated chic and since I can tie them behind my head, I often use them for longer wear. They’re also great for hiking. I wear them tied around my neck and pull them up if I’m passing other people on the trail.
  • The Statement Mask – If you’re looking for an eye-catching mask, I highly recommend the fun designs from Tala Raassi (two of which are pictured in this post!). They’re very practical, too. The elastic ear straps are adjustable, they’re comfortable to wear, and they’re machine-washable. Oh, and the brand donates $5 to No Kid Hungry for every mask sold!
  • The Extra Pretty Mask – When I’m wearing a pretty outfit and want an extra special mask to match, I pull out one of these beautiful pieces by Erica Knicely. Handcrafted from vintage cotton and linen tablecloths and double-lined with cotton poplin, they very safe and include an inside pocket to add a filter. They seem thick, but I wore one all day around Chatham on our recent Cape Cod vacation and was surprised at how breathable it was. Pro-tip: get the silk tie instead of the elastic when you order – the mask will fit better!

Great post, I love the tablecloth ones, so unique!
Have you checked the ones I make? I use vintage silk from India and they also have a filter pocket, hope you like them,

It does seem like masks will be around for a while, while inside in a heavily air conditioned store it’s not so bad, but outside, in the heat, I’ve yet to find one that feels breathable enough. Still, I’m all for the pretty ones, and matching with my outfit whenever possible.

Some great picks. We invested in some pretty masks too. This may go on for a while.

These are so beautiful. Makes me wonder how much longer we will wear masks, I am so sick of it to be honest, makes it so hard to breathe.

I can’t believe facemasks are “a thing” now. What crazy times we’re in! Nonetheless, I love your picks. The second is my favorite. Great way to style it, and I LOVE that chunky necklace.
