I wake up in the morning and I think I'm...

I noticed some other fashionistas aren’t particularly enthused about the return of clogs, but being a child of the 80s/90s, I’m pretty stoked about it.  I distinctly remember envying a pair my camp counselor had when I was 9 and begging my mom for a pair.  And of course, who can forget Cher’s infamous “I broke in my new purple clogs” line in Clueless?  Needless to say, they give me a twinge of nostalgia, so I was thrilled to find these Jeffrey Campbell’s that are not at all dissimilar to Karl’s most delicious design.

And a quick update on the Lasik for those of you that are interested in getting it done – it was not painful at all.  It only took 10 minutes for the whole procedure.  My one complaint is that I have to tape these plastic goggle things to my head before I go to sleep every night and I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how to get the sticky residue off my face from this damn tape, but it’s only a week so it’s really not that bad.  All and all, I would highly recommend this to anyone who can’t see without glasses.  I’m finally going to be able to swim in the ocean and actually see it!

Forever 21 top
Illig skirt
KMRii bag
Jeffrey Campbell clogs
Hermes bangle
Ray Ban wayfarers

PS DC people – I hope you remembered to watch “Washington in the ’70s” tonight.  The mention of WHFS brought a tear to my eye.  A void that will never be filled.

haha. I feel a bit stalkerish that I seem to comment first, or so, on your posts. I guess we internet at similar times.

I love clogs! I found a pair at a thrift store but sadly passed on them, I regret that so much. I also love your maxi skirt! I thrifted a maxi dress but haven't figured out what shoes to put with it… hmm.

Soon.

I don't actually mind clogs. I think some could wear it wrong and others would wear it right. You styled them really well 🙂
Apparently I need to be at least 19 to get Lasik because my eyes haven't stabilized yet. Thanks for the update!
I can't wait to be able to swim and see.

I'm seeing clogs everywhere and I am not yet ready to jump on that bandwagon…I'll wait and see if the perfect pair crosses my path and makes me a convert 🙂 Your jacket, on the other hand, I took an immediately liking to!

That jacket is freakin fabulous, lady! I am in love with it! I'm considering lasik in the future, so thanks a bunch for that review. Glad everything went well.

I'm having a lot of trouble hopping on that clogs bandwagon, but I really do love what you've done with them here. Kudos! 🙂 Congrats on the successful Lasik!

That is a fantastic jacket. I love the button detail. And that you quoted Cher Horowitz makes this maybe the best post ever. I'm nervous about the return of clogs but I think I could handle it with something black & studded with a wooden heel/platform (hmm sounds familiar), with a super vertiginous heel. Of course.

You look great in long skirts, I have been enamored with them since you posted a pic with one a while back. I've never actually seen one look good on anyone until that post 🙂 I miss WHFS too!!!!! The HFStivals, funny, down-to-earth passionate DJ's, and local & punk music segments really shaped my appreciation for music and the culture around it. I moved to Austin and when I came back, it was crazy Latin music on 99.1. I found it again, but it was never quite the same. I feel your pain!! But your clogs are freakin' fantastic!!

when i opened this page, all i saw was the title (bustin' loose!) and your strong silhouette from the first picture. a beautiful beginning. i really like the way you paired the military with the clog.

fantastic, as always, my dear!

I am totally loving that jacket you are wearing! Oh and I may end up jumping on the clog band wagon. I haven't fully decided though.

glad to see that you had such fond memories of clogs! although i grew up in the 90s and pretty much quoted 'clueless' like it was my job (i wanted to be dionne so BADLY, haha!) i'm not entirely sold on clogs. i have distinct memories of not being able to walk properly in them, especially when being dragged around by my fast-walking mother… perhaps those chanel clogs will change my mind on the topic?

well that little jacket is just FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC!

i am not embracing the clog thing, but i have more than a few wooden heeled numbers i can clomp around in this summer so that i don't feel left out.

and lasik. you brave soul. i am a (blind) chicken. it is contacts for me, and glasses from time to time. oh to be able to see again w/out this stuff. oh well. i am just too chicken for lasik as a friend had a horror story that i have never forgotten.

Hmmm you make a convincing case, but I'm still not convinced about clogs. Something about them just seems so wrong. Love that long skirt though

First you look great!
Second, I'm happy about the clogs!
And lastly, I had no idea Lasik only took 10 minutes!? That surprises me! But that's a good thing! And that stinks about the whole tape residue thing!

i remember i was in the midst of the clogs trend then but funny i never owned a pair. i liked the swedish types: not high-heeled and the cut at the front is broad. i did own a pair of slip-ons that looked like clogs. there's a strap that could be adjusted to wear like slingbacks. they're honestly a bit hard to wear. not painful but the grip of the feet's not v secure. you understand what i'm trying to say? so i'm not sure i wanna try out the clogs of today. i can just imagine the clogs coming off every few steps i take.

lovin the clogs girl!
