Ugggh, does anyone else hate that stupid expression as much as I do?!  If I see it on one more women’s magazine, I’m going to scream.  I like the idea of bettering oneself as much as the next girl, but “new me?”  Did the “old me” really suck that badly?  I really wish the object of mainstream fashion magazines wasn’t to turn us all into cookie cutter pods.

Griping aside, New Year’s Eve was a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to getting some things accomplished in this new year, namely purchasing a home – adulthood is scary!

NYE

K and I got our caricatures done – sooo amazing!

And I’m totally thrilled to have made the Weardrobe 100!  And next to Fashion Chalet, one of my favorite bloggers, no less!!  I also want to thank the BonBon Rose girls for the shout out in their Deck Yourself Out in 2010 with Bejeweled Pieces post.  They’re having a giveaway, too, so make sure to check it out!

I hate that saying…and it's in almost ever January issue, too– you'd think the editors would wise up and use a different saying. Or dump the feature altogether.

Love that top! 🙂 Congrats on the weardrobe kudos! – JoAnn, Sidewalk Chalk

I love this outfit. Great skirt! And congrats 🙂

Reply

This is so gorgeous! I love love love that cami, and the skirt is just perfect.
And yeah, that "new you" line is terrible and exploits women who have bad self esteem. I am all about fresh starts and love the opportunity for a clean slate, but I don't need a new me, I just usually need to kick a bad habit (i.e., chocolate every day, LOL).

This look is BY FAR the best NYE outfit I've seen on the blogs. In a sea of sequined dresses, it's so refreshing. And oh boy, do I love that camisole!!!

Reply

Your top is beautiful! Great look.

Haha – your post made me think of the song "New You" by the Vandals. It's about the a guy trying to get with the "old you" but the "new you" keeps getting in the way. I think you'd like it! 🙂

Reply

Your blouse is gorgeous! Happy new year!

"New you" I can take. It's "effortlessly chic" that's going to lead me to take a chainsaw to someone.

Congrats on making the top 100! That's awesome!

that's one of the reasons I don't read women magazines. I can't stand that crap either, along with pretentious titles like "50 Tips For Getting In Shape Til Summer", "15 Must Have January Items" and "20 Ways To Turn Him On". aaaargh!

your outfit is super cool and so is the caricature! =)
