One of Shopbop’s charming, taunting emails the other day mentioned Helmut Newton, who I actually was quite fascinated by when I was younger. I remember seeing the famous saddle photo in Vanity Fair at some point or another and, from that point on, I was totally hooked. His photos are really quite empowering, in my mind. They portray this calculating, self-aware female that I feel we have been seeing on the runway as of late. No more sloppy bag ladies; finally, we get those wonderfully exaggerated shoulders and hips, and sexy silhouettes we’ve been deprived of for much too long. To commemorate this wondrous changing of the guard, I thought I’d revisit Polyvore and make some fantasy outfits.
