Confession: I may or may not have sent my child to daycare for a couple days over winter break so I could be somewhat productive and get stuff done around the house. I feel kind of guilty about it, but it’s astonishing what one can get accomplished without a two year old running wild. B and I even had time for an afternoon date in the city. I’d heard great things about a new exhibit at the Renwick: Murder Is Her Hobby: Frances Glessner Lee and The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death. I’m a huge true crime fanatic so I couldn’t wait to see these dioramas of real crime scenes from the 1940’s. The attention to detail was incredible and visitors are encouraged to examine these scenes as investigators would to determine whether the deaths were the result of an accident, suicide, or murder. But don’t expect to find out what really happened, these detailed miniatures are still used as investigative training tools today – pretty cool, huh?

Throwing back to my moody teenager years in the 90’s, I paid homage to Daria with this combat boot and skirt combo. I’ve had these boots for many years now and they’re perfect for trekking around the city on cold days. I linked a very similar pair below if you’re in the market!
