Dolce & Gabbana, killin' it

Truthfully, I haven't been super excited about any of the F/W collections up until now. Then along came Dolce & Gabbana. So many superlatives come to mind: oppulent, exquisite, expensive... And I mean "expensive" in the best way possible. Each piece is like a heartbreakingly beautiful piece of art. Mosaic and tapestry-like fabrics. Jewel-like bags. Gilded shoes. Wood inlay. The whole bit. Maybe if I start saving my pennies now, I'll be able to afford one of these gorgeous pieces come next fall...

Travel back in your time machine, if you will, to last October when B and I took a little trip to Orta San Guilio. If you won't, I will. Gladly.

Recent additions to the jewelry collection: an eclectic ring set from Madewell and a sliced agate bracelet by Taryn Reed. I kind of love the idea of raw minerals/dangling pendants in bracelet form.

Oh and by the way, Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you're eating/drinking something yummy!

old and new

This knit poncho is one of my favorite layers and kind of perfect for this kind of fickle, "in between" weather. B's grandmother actually made this beautiful piece in the '70s. I wrote a little more about it here.

Sunday night snack

Burrata is one of those wonderful things that looks and tastes fancy and exotic, but isn't very expensive or fussy. My good friend K and her husband introduced me to this wonderful cheese a few years ago. This is how they serve it and, frankly, I think there's no better way. Just drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with lemon zest, toasted pine nuts, salt and pepper, et voilà! Serve with a warm baguette (ours came from LeoNora - I cannot speak highly enough of this bakery's baguettes. I'm kind of a bread nut and I haven't had a baguette this buttery and delicious since the last time I was in France. They're really that good). Oh and if you're looking for a good olive oil, we used Paesano, which we recently procured on a trip to Litteri's - it's pretty darn fabulous, too.

Just a little something from last weekend while I attempt to collect myself after a crazy (not in a bad way) week. Can't wait to share photos of recent adventures with you all, but for now, just a much-loved vintage coat found in New Orleans a few years back and a pair of vintage Givenchy sunglasses procured from my mom a while ago. I love these crazy things, maybe why I love this amazing new pair by Karen Walker so much...
