Yesterday, Carla of TPWP and I were noting our tendencies to overwear long flowy things during bouts of hot weather. Such is this piece. If I had paid no heed (or $) to dry-cleaning bills, I'd probably sleep in it.

Trovata dress (old, but stunning alternative by Reiss here)
Adia Kibur necklace (old, but love this KJL one here)
Hermès, Madewell, and Amrita Singh bangles (similar set here)
watch c/o BCBGMAXAZRIA
Zara sandals
purse from a random boutique (another nifty version here)

Red pants are one of those sneaky, never-knew-these-were-so-versatile things. So of course I was thrilled that White House Black Market sent me such a classic and flattering pair to add to regular rotation. Also loving that these pants gave me an excuse to wear my Square Lust scarf. Mental note: wear more scarves.

So here's the perk for you: WHBM has generously given me two $25 gift certificates give away to you, my lovely readers! All you have to do is:
  • be a follower of District of Chic on Bloglovin', Google Reader, or Facebook.
  • be a US resident.
  • leave a comment with a valid email address so I can contact you if you win.
I'll announce the winner next Friday, August 3. Good luck!

A good friend had this beautiful necklace made for me by Papazian Design. Clearly she knows me well, as gray and gold are one of my favorite combinations. These jeans are another new wardrobe favorite - soft as butter I tell ya.

In other exciting news, we just booked our tickets for a trip to Italy this fall! If you have any good Milan hotel/restaurant recommendations, please send them my way!

Found these babies in a little vintage boutique on U St. - the same place I found the exaggerated cat eye pair I've been wearing of late. They aren't vintage, but they closely resemble the Super Lucia's I've been coveting (and, more importantly, they're cheap)!

sunglasses from a random U St. shop (real deal here and cheaper alternative here)
Anthropologie top
Michael Kors watch
Madewell (similar here), thrifted, and Lou Lou bracelets (same one here)
Abercrombie & Fitch shorts

Much-delayed photos from a much-too-short stay in NYC. We were so caught up with wedding events, we only had small bits of time to truly walk around and take in the city, but we made the most of it. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you probably saw quite a bit of food porn. And there was. The big highlights were a lengthy arrival lunch at Salumeria Rosi Parmacotto (amazing charcuterie selection and small plates; impromptu dessert was to die for, too) and brunch at Isabella's - a great (and affordable) brunch recommendation from @IFB. Hoping for a much longer stay in the not-so-distant future!

travel tote

Lo & Sons bag

Those that know me - my husband, friends, family, neighbors, etc. - will tell you I am, at heart, a bag lady. Constantly hauling absurd amounts of crap around with me everywhere I go. Enter: the Lo & Sons travel tote. So spacious! Pockets of all shapes and sizes for virtually every "important" item a self-described packrat like myself can dream of! Bonus points for durability, because, based on past performance, this thing might as well be loaded with rocks. Obviously this came in handy for this past weekend's trip to NYC. Behold, the clown car bag, loaded with all of my essential electronics and literature:

Lo & Sons bag

I know, it doesn't look like that much stuff, but I promise it is. Anyhoo, you know it's got my stamp of approval. Lo & Sons is offering 25% off all orders until the end of the July. Just use the code DISTRICTOFCHIC!
