I'm in such a spring state of mind right now, I only have eyes for bold prints and vibrant colors. I just found this skirt and really couldn't wait to wear it, even with the cold weather this weekend. I like that the fabric and stripes seem to add a sporty feel to what would have otherwise been an elegant (and possibly boring) silhouette. I wore an American Apparel v-neck underneath, which would have been perfect on its own, but it was too chilly to go without a sweater. I need some warm weather so this baby can really stretch its legs.

Some yet-to-be-diagnosed ailment and general burnout from work last week pretty much determined little to nothing was going to get accomplished this weekend. I guess that included great ambitions of catching up on blogging (not that it's a chore). It did, however, include plenty of R&R: lots of couch time with "Sex and the City" reruns and "Exit through the Gift Shop" (have any of you seen it? I'd be curious to hear your thoughts...), pastries from Randolph's, District Tacos, and delicious beers at St. Arnold's. *sigh!* Maybe next weekend will be more productive...

I wasn't lying when I said this dress is versatile. In terms of comfort, it's really not all that different from a nightgown, but I feel like the army green color makes it a bit more rustic and ideal for outdoor wearing. Future spring/summer staple officially tried and tested. So...what the Hell is this crap I hear about a cold snap? Not ok.

Perfect wide-legged pants found! I know some of you expressed doubts about how flattering this silhouette would be on different body types and I have to say I think this particular pair would be beautiful on anyone. They make you look like you're floating on clouds when you walk. Pair 'em with a giant pair of heels and you kind of are. I love the layered sheer fabrics, because they work just as well with a casual button-down as they do with a more dressy top. Aside from a slightly questionable v-shaped waistband, these babies are really quite flawless.

PS A few of you asked if my grandmother is a Kappa Kappa Gamma (regarding the bracelet in my last post) - yes, she is!

I know what you're thinking: "A St. Patrick's Day-themed outfit post? Really?" I know. I know. But fate played a hand in this one. I actually found this gorgeous lace coat (?) last week and just about died and went to heaven. I suspect it originally had a dress that went with it, but we can't win 'em all, can we?

This is my grandmother's sorority bracelet. Nothing beats a super-delicate bracelet in my book. My jewelry box is filled with stuff like this.

These shoes are really old. They've been looking awfully lonely on my shoe rack the last few years, but I couldn't seem to bring myself to get rid of them. Good thing I didn't or they might not have been able to fulfill their destiny to be part of this outfit. (Please ignore the purple toes. It was a whim.)

I was lucky enough to get to style one of Banana Republic's ridiculously versatile dresses from their spring collection. I know this is going to sound trite, but this is the ultimate "day to night" piece. Sheer and floaty enough for date night, yet soft and roomy enough for lounging around on the porch, which is pretty much what it was used for this weekend. Kind of a no-brainer to style, too...

Friday Night DIY: disco nails

Friday Night DIY: disco nails

Friday Night DIY: disco nails

The moment I saw this captivating photo, I knew I had to have these nails. Thankfully, the wonders of Twitter delivered a quick solution to a lazy DIY-er like myself. Insta-response from Twitter friend Erin pointed me to this DIY and then the necessary supplies. I admit I was frightened when these first arrived with more detailed instructions than I had anticipated, but the whole process was definitely do-able, even for a nail art-challenged person like myself.

blue and white: color palette of the gods

As I've been decorating my new home, it's become clear to me that I'm partial to one color combination in particular. There's something very elegant about blue and white, so right now I'm focusing on the living room, but it's really perfect for any room. Here's the inspiration I've been drawing from lately...

Phoebe Howard decorated a home based almost entirely around this color scheme - mind-blowing! Her site has loads of blue and white inspiration.
