Threadless t-shirt and Modcloth pants

Pleasantly exhausted after the first productive weekend I can remember in quite a while. In addition to numerous home-related chores, I finally met Megan Nielsen face-to-face for a fruitful shopping trip around Georgetown. We had a wonderful time and I walked away with some extremely versatile work/play pieces. Best shopping buddy ever! I also learned all kinds of important things, like Madewell has an incredible selection of affordable rustic belts and jewelry and there is a magical blog that explains Anthropologie’s mystical sale process. Things I never knew before! Shopping enlightenment!

Threadless t-shirt and Modcloth pants

For a large portion of my adolescence, this was basically my uniform: wide-legged pants and a t-shirt (not so much the giant platforms). I guess I was a child of the 90s. I distinctly remember a discussion in my high school French class, where our teacher asked us what was remotely flattering about the baggy pants we were so fond of. “They lengthen your legs! They make your waist look smaller!” I’m actually pretty proud of us for coming up with such intelligent responses, but it’s true. There is something to be said for the wide-legged pant look and it doesn’t hurt that they’re comfy, too…

Stunning, of course. <3

And I have a shirt with the same design, although mine is yellow with green print. Doesn't sound too appealing but it's supercute. You just reminded me to dig it out of my closet..

I was seriously in Anthropologie a few hours ago and horribly annoyed at how awful their sales ALWAYS are and thinking it was a conspiracy! Urban outfitters, their mother company is the king of sales so it doesnt make sense some times!!

Love the leather jacket. I have been looking for one like that for a while. And if I look at that anthropologie sale strategy I might start spending incessantly. 🙂

Love how you dressed these down with sportier pieces–very wearable.

I love how the sheer hemline exposes the shoe in an almost risqué manner. And the rim light is fab!

You girls were right in my neighborhood! Such fun–and I don't know what I'd do without Madewell, and it's definitely a problem that the new store is now just a few blocks away.

Adore the pants, especially with the graphic tee and edgy platforms. Just gorgeous.

I was a child of the 90s too and totally went through the wide/baggy pants and even grunge phases! You were so right about the magic of a wide leg pant – leg lengthening and waist slimming. You always knew fashion! Love your modern version of the look!!

I just ADORE the jacket. I love this whole outfit in fact. And I think I may have had the same discussion about wide legged pants! Ha! Only it was with my parents, and they wanted to know why I did my make up all nice and then dressed "like that"! Oh, I probably was on the lower end of 90s fashion mind…;-) As in, I didn't pull it off very well at all!

But yes, you look LOVELY!

I totally remember those days of baggy pants and crop tops with flannel shirts. I'm a 90's child too! And I believe back in the day (in California at least), we used to call your pants palazzo or elephant pants. Oh, memories.
Love the pants still.
