The Lady Tie

I’ve always been a fan of ties on women, but I find the trend a bit tricky to pull off without looking like I’m wearing my dad’s old tie. Thankfully, Elissa told (tweeted) me about the genius that is “the Lady Tie” sold at local gem, Ginger Root. How I lived without these in my life up until this point, I’ll never know. It’s the perfect cravat/necklace/scarf hybrid. You can view more Lady Ties here.

The Lady Tie

A couple weekends ago, I took a trip to Ginger Root to see what other goodies they had to offer and I wasn’t disappointed. In addition to the much-coveted Lady Ties, they carry vintage accessories, jewelry from local lines like Claranette, and custom pieces by ReVamp, made from repurposed vintage fabrics. I particularly liked a corset fashioned from a vintage sheets and jacket linings and a beautiful jacket with built-in handkerchief-like detail in the pockets! The possibilities are endless here and the ambitious (or curious) shopper can become a designer, too, with the weekly sewing classes now available. I have to admit, I could stand to learn the basics!

The Lady Tie

I’ve been needing a watch since I lost my last one in college. Sad, right? I found this one in an antique store in Cloudcroft. I don’t think it’s a particularly nice or notable brand, but I like that it looks like a feminized men’s watch.

Oooo very nice. Much better than a tie. I also really want to learn to sew. For example, I think I could easily make a shift dress if I knew how to use a sewing machine. Love the LV bag and the camel coat!

I seriously need to try sewing again. I did a small project for my sister. I only have one watch. It's bright pink. I need a more grown-up style watch.

I love the lady tie – I keep toying with the idea of eventually wearing some ribbon or something tied around my neck in a bow… one day!

And gorgeous watch too x

Nice outfit, E! I also like to see a lady wearing a tie, and tried it out myself recently. Being kind of short and flat chested, I just looked like a child trying on daddy's clothes.

The tie is just, wow, I love it! I also love the shoes peeking out from the jeans.

Adorable outfit, darling E!

Nice tie! It's a quirky and cute accessory. I almost ordered a tuxedo shirt the other day, but chickened out, as usual.

That Lady Tie is gorgeous! What a fab idea and I agree it's easier to pull off than a regular tie. The vintage corset sounds like a dream by the way… I would have left the store with quite a few purchases I think.

I've also begun wearing a watch again. I got a beautiful vintage one with a tiny face and many small diamonds for Christmas. And FYI, your lady tie is mega awesome — you carry it off effortlessly.
