The ever-talented Megan Nielson was so sweet to send me one her beautiful pieces from her collection. It's such a perfect piece for fall! When I tried it on, the preppy sophistication of Rag & Bone's fall collection immediately came to mind. I can't wait for it to get cold so I can rock this with even more layers! Check out Megan's shop and her blog to see all of her creative ideas!

Remember I told you about the infamous "going away suit?" Well, this skirt was a piece of said suit. Try to imagine a perfectly-tailored little jacket on top and you've got the full ensemble. At some point I plan to wear that jacket... Crap, I need to get on that before summer ends...

I went on a bit of a thrifting binge on Friday (it's feast or famine, I swear!) and found this pretty dress in the process. It has such a lovely Prada-like print that I couldn't leave it all by its lonesome on the rack. I also think it might be the first babydoll dress I've owned since, like, the '90s.

Plaguing me weeks: I must have an awesome pair of high-heeled loafers. How perfect would they be with this dress?

When I was contacted by NOVICA to do a sponsored post, I jumped at the opportunity. I've ordered from NOVICA in the past (I got a set of banana leaf-shaped stoneware bowls for a friend's bridal shower) and, not only was the quality amazing, the artist wrapped the gift with such beauty and care! Each order comes with a personal note from the artist, too.

The site has a marvelous selection of handmade jewelry, which I took full advantage of, as I've been in the market for unique statement pieces. After much deliberation, I decided upon this piece by Neeru Goel. I love it. The detail is like a hybrid between feathers and talons - amazing.

Never Satisfied

Good Lord, summer's not even over yet and here I am, chomping at the bit to wear fall stuff. Lately, I've been mulling over big knits, tailored ensembles, huge scarves, long layers, beautiful coats, etc, etc, etc...

Beige and red...how could it have taken me this long to realize it is such a perfect combination?

what you thought was a hurricane was just the rustling of the wind

what you thought was a hurricaine was just the rustling of the wind

I just got back from an incredibly relaxing weekend in the country. Lots of hiking, swimming, and all-important napping. Not at all happy to be going back to the real world tomorrow. How scary is it that we only have a few weeks of summer left??

I wish I could tell you the rhyme or reason behind this look, but I cannot. I do love these socks.

Chictopia Chic Swap Giveaway!

You might have noticed my affinity for Chictopia. Well Chictopia now has a very cool program called Chic Swap, that allows members to buy and sell clothing using Chic Tokens. It's a great concept, because it's much more intimate than other marketplaces like eBay. Right now, I'm coveting this cool denim vest from Libys11 and this sheer American Apparel button-down from playingwithfire.

So let's get down to business: I'm giving away 200 Chic Tokens to one lucky winner. All you have to do is be a Chictopia member (if you're not, get on it!) and leave a comment below with your Chictopia username! I'll pick winner at random one week from today. Good luck!

resurrection of a wing chair

resurrection of a wing chair

This is more of a home decor post than an outfit one. One of the many exciting things about moving into our new home has been that I have been able to bust my recently recovered wing chairs out of storage. This is one of them.

resurrection of a wing chair

When I got these chairs, they were covered in some beige floral fabric that was just not my bag. I was looking for a blue and white fabric to recover them with and, I have to say, the choice was easy when I found this mesmerizing pattern. My general furniture-buying philosophy is to buy cheap and used, then update as needed. Sky Upholstery recovered these and I think they did a wonderful job for a very reasonable price. The fabric came from Calico Corners (which has a great online "lookbook," chock full of decorating ideas).

How was your weekend? B and I were pretty busy organizing the house and braving the dreaded Home Depot (hopefully for the last time). However, I did manage to find some time to do a little gardening, which I'm very excited about. I felt like Mathilda in "The Professional," planting my long-suffering windowsill plant and finally allowing it to put down roots. Your chances of survival are much better here, little friend.

Also managed to squeeze in a little R&R, and cocktails, too. This dress was made for porch-sittin'.

Isn't the neckline of this jacket incredible?? I've had my eye on it for months and it finally hit the right price. Buy! If clothes were stocks, I might have a future on Wall Street.

Anyway, I love how this neckline resembles a doodle. There's also something wonderfully dark and medieval about it. I need to own more pieces like this bad boy.

Oh, and this is another recent addition (I've been busy!). Actually, I think I purchased them over a month ago, but the move deprived me of the opportunity to wear them until now. Yes, my darlings, I can tell that we are gonna be friends.
