As regular readers of this blog will know, I enjoy seeing performances by the Washington National Opera as often as I get the opportunity, so I was thrilled when they contacted me about doing a giveaway for one of my favorite operas! The Washington National Opera and Generation O will give one lucky reader a pair of orchestra seats for Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro on Thursday, May 6, at 7:30 PM!

This special production features WNO’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists in a one-night only performance. Tickets for this special performance begin at only $15! Generation O and the Young Artists will also be hosting a Late Night Affair benefit and cast party at Circle Bistro immediately following the performance, featuring music, drinks, and dancing. Late Night Affair packages include premium orchestra seats to The Marriage of Figaro and begin at $100. Both the show and Late Night Affair are available only to Generation O, WNO’s young patron program for people between 18 and 35, which provides deeply discounted tickets and special networking opportunities, such as happy hours and after parties, to its members. Visit www.dc-opera.org/yap to sign up and learn more.

All you have to do to enter this giveaway is be between the ages of 18 and 35 and leave a comment with a valid email where you contacted if you win.  Obviously, this contest is open to locals only, as the performance will be held at the Kennedy Center here in DC.  Enter now because this giveaway will end Monday, May 3, at midnight!

Dear District of Chic,

Your blog is amazing! You would not believe the level of interest I hear about your blog from my co-workers and others (most of whom do not even leave comments).

I would be interested in tickets as well.

OMG, we LOVE to opera, and I've never seen that one live! The Richmond Opera is actually very good, but I bet the DC one is breathtaking. I'm in!

Ok this is awesome! I haven't been reading you long enough to know this about you, but my mom was an opera singer for 35+ years (she sang at WNO at ton) and is now a director. She actually directed Rigoletto there in 2008. It wasn't her production (sets and costumes were recycled, so it wasn't totally her vision) but she will probably direct there again in the near future. Anyway, her name is Catherine Malfitano, in case you did see it or something. She sang there last in the earlier 2000s, I believe. I am not going to be "in" for the contest, since I feel like that's cheating, since I've seen figaro live many times. :). I think it's so awesome that you're encouraging opera-going, though. I HAVE to think of something like this for my blog considering opera is like….my life.
Yay!

I can't make this because I live in California, but what's with the upper end of the age range? Seriously, if someone is 36 they're not eligible?
