...and the New Mexico photo-thon continues.  Maybe it's my East Coast upbringing, but I'm constantly amazed by the seemingly endless Southwestern horizon.

On a side note, I'm thrilled by the revival of winklepickers.  Not only are they fun to say, but they're pretty damn fantastic to look at, too.  Currently prowling the Internets for the perfect pair...

I'm going to warn you, this is only the tip of the iceberg with the photo-intensive posts for the next week or so.  These were from just one day and I worked very very hard to pare them down.  There's obviously a reason so many artists are based in New Mexico.  When the landscape looks like this all the time, how could you not be inspired?

In case there were any doubts, I want to steal this dog.

Who would have thought Forever 21 would be such a jackpot for lace tops?  I certainly didn't, but now I'm thinking I might need to go back and get a few more...

Leaving for New Mexico and there's a possibility I'll be offline for a week - SCARY!  Preemtively freaking out.

divine inspiration

"Til Death Do Us Part" t-shirt design by Zerobriant (via FFFFOUND!) - I just discovered TeeFury and I love the concept.  Basically a new t-shirt design is available everyday in limited quantities.  Each design has an interview with the designer, so you can read about the designer's background and inspiration.

Ballerina Yola Letellier at the Grand Steeple-Chase d'Auteil, June 19, 1927.  She was the inspiration behind the main character of Collette's Gigi. Photo by Seeberger (via FFFFOUND!)

A piece from Tim Burton's MoMA exhibition (via Cinematical) - I'm sure most of you have heard about this, but I appreciated finding a gallery online since I won't be able to attend.

le corps robot descending, Monte Carlo by Helmut Newton (via artnet) - If you have $13,000-$15,000 to blow, it can be yours.  Artnet's Faces and Figures auction features 375 photos by 185 notable contemporary artists, but you better get on it if you want to bid, because it ends today.

PS Thank you so much La Mimi for featuring me as your Fashion Idol of the Week! The generous write-up and incredible photo layout is too kind!

Also, Weardrobe just recently updated their site to include a shopping feature, so definitely check it out!

johnny too bad

I apologize for the Corpse Bride-like pallor in these photos.  The lighting in my apartment has that marvelous effect on already-freakishly-pale skin tones.

Currently watching Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team (total guilty pleasure).  Is it bad that I'm morbidly fascinated that these girls keep smiling no matter what mean things the evil coach ladies say to them?  It's like a psychological experiment.

Looking at all the photos of the Spring collections has prints running through my mind.  It was in the 70s today (November? unbelievable), so that helped the Spring thoughts a little, too.  This shirt came from an outlet mall eons ago for one of those ridiculously low prices you just don't think twice about.

Major thanks are in order today...

First, to Daddy Likey for making mention of my outfit in my last post. It warms the cockles of my heart that she likes my blog :-)

Second, to Syd Vicious for the award.  I think we've been reading each other's blogs for almost a year now, which is pretty crazy!

And finally, to American Apparel for including me in their Seen on Bloggers section for the bandeau top (if you scroll down a little, I am there in the corner :-).  SO flattered that my look was worthy!

Day off today and I basically just hibernated.  I have been outside once, very briefy - sad, no?  It's raining, if that counts for anything.  This was my outfit from Sunday, when it was ridiculously warm, but I was still feeling kind of Fall-ish, thus, my attempt to reconcile the two.

Have you all seen the Lady Gaga video for Bad Romance?  She actually walks in the Alexander McQueen heels - incredible.

Got this vintage fur jacket in Nola for $75, after talking them down from $100.  Maybe it wasn't a huge bargain, but I couldn't have been more proud of myself than if won the Nobel Prize - that will never happen, which is why I can make such brash statements.

I wore this on Friday to hang out at a friends' house and do nothing in particular.  Per usual, F pointed out that I was overdressed and, per usual, I told him to suck it.  We ended up drinking a bunch of wine and  playing Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit (Genus 6, the impossible one).  Despite my limited blogging vocabulary, I rock at Scrabble, fyi.

no dessert until you eat your peas

Sunday Drive by Luke Smalley (via Art MOCO) - This photo exhibition depicts a trio of girls getting ready for a special date with their boyfriends, but this story has an unexpected twist, so I recommend you check out the link with the other photos to see where these girls are headed.

B and I spent some time out of doors on Sunday.  With all the leaves on the ground, I kind of felt like I was in Sleepy Hollow.  I always love that movie, because it captures the Upstate NY climate so accurately.

This sweater has been a long-time favorite of mine.  Sometimes I worry maybe I wear it too much, because it's just so easy.  It also doesn't hurt that the robe-like collar reminds me of the overcoats in Edward Gorey books.

Ok, I have to admit, I let these fantastic gold socks slide the first time I saw them at H&M and didn't actually pick them up until the next time I came back. But that's true love, right - if you love something and you let it go and it still comes back to you, then it's meant to be?  Well, that's what these big-hearted little socks did for me.
