Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.

Wicked Halo posted these sweet posters by Thom Walen and I was particularly taken the "Army of Darkness" one.  Might have to add some Bruce Campbell movies to the Netflix for Halloween.

Last year I did a Halloween playlist to get me in the mood, so I thought I'd do another this year...

Aisha - Death in Vegas (feat. Iggy Pop)
Bad Things - Jace Everet
Burn - Nine Inch Nails
Deep - Danzig
Wandering Star - Portishead
Agenda Suicide - the Faint
Where the Devil Don't Stay - Drive-By Truckers
Voodoo People - the Prodigy
Ladies of Spain - )EI3(
Satan - Orbital
One Step Beyond - Prince Buster
Suicide - Kosheen
Karmacoma - Massive Attack

What would be your suggestions for the perfect Halloween playlist?

PS Thank you so much Julia of Song of the Exile for the much too generous and well-written feature about my blog :-)

Replacing the quiet elegance of the dark suit and tie with the casual indifference of these muted earth tones is a form of fashion suicide, but, uh, call me crazy — on you it works.

I love Fall.  The leaves are gorgeous this year and it's making me excited for Halloween.  I rode the elevator today with a man carrying an extremely accurate Poppin' Fresh jack 'o lantern.  Had the hat and everything.  Not sure what the story was there, but the guy looked super serious for someone carrying a pumpkin fashioned to look like Poppin' Fresh.

Chantilly Showdown

Chantilly Showdown

Chantilly Showdown

The lovely and eloquent princesspolitico tagged me for a fun post I've been wanting to try for a while. The rules are:
1) open your first photo folder
2) scroll down to the 10th photo
3) post the photo and a brief story behind it.

Chantilly (I think)

I'm 90% sure this photo is from Chantilly (outside Paris), but there's a definite possibility I'm wrong.  Either way, my balance must have been off that day or I was trying to do something clever and arty, because this photo is giving me motion sickness.  What I do remember about Chantilly is that it's a very long walk from the train station and that my friend, who was visiting me at the time, sat down and refused to walk any further until I agreed to get a cab.  I was a poor starving student so I remember being miffed I had to spend money on a cab.  To be fair, I think her feet were hurting pretty badly.  Looking back on the situation, I think I might have been a jerk.  Chantilly is also my favorite word to say in French.

Hey, Russ, wanna look through Aunt Edna's purse?

I have a confession to make: I'm not usually a huge fan of leopard print.  I do enjoy touches of it, but I haven't been able to bring myself to actually purchase a piece for my own.  This all changed the day I saw this incredible robe thing in a vintage shop in New Orleans.  I feel like the particularly tacky rendition of the leopard print, combined with the red leaf design that could easily be mistaken for flames, not to mention 100% nylon composition make this a piece I can wear again and again.  I also suspect I will serve me well when I'm a crazy old lady living with my many many cats.

greatest hits

I started this blog a year ago without any great aspirations or direction, so I'm somewhat in awe of the fact that I've kept it going for this long.  I've never kept a journal for longer than a week, yet this blog keeps me coming back day after day.  Thank you to every one of you who has ever made mention of this blog in your own - I mean it every time I say how terribly flattered I am that something here caught your eye or inspired you.  Thank you to anyone who's ever left a comment on one of my posts - I truly appreciate your lovely complements, your insights, and your constructive criticism.  You've given me new perspectives on fashion, prompted me to reassess my way of thinking, and laugh out loud in public places.  And thank you so much to all of you who like this blog, enjoy my husband's stunning photos, or are just morbidly fascinated enough to look at this blog as much as you do.  It's your interest that encourages me to keep posting and I cannot say thank you enough.  Thank you!

Anyway, I thought I might celebrate our "anniversary" by sharing some of my faves...

Among a few other things, this dress was one of the vintage goodies I obtained in New Orleans.  I saw this on the rack and swiped it on a whim, in the process of grabbing many many other things.  It's not the style (if I have a style) I normally go for, but it fit like a glove and I'm kind of digging the delicate, Victorian feel.  It's also beyond comfy.  May or may not have rocked it like PJs on the plane ride home...
