I opened my inbox to the most wonderful surprise this morning: a portrait by the most clever and talented la flore et la faune! I love reading his wonderful cartoons everyday that sometimes make me laugh out loud in public places. I'm so pleased that I am now immortalized in one of his works so that I might one day be able to sell this blog post on ebay for lots and lots of money.

PS I also love how my shoes look like Givenchys in this pic... let's just pretend that they are.

Swamp Thing

It's been so damn hot and sticky here, it's disgusting. Though it kind of lends itself to B and I watching lots and lots of True Blood. Do any of you guys watch that show? K lent us the dvd with the first two episodes and now we've Netflixed them all and can't watch anything else. I love how vampire shows and movies always seem to be based in Louisiana. If ever there were a place for the undead to exist in normal society, it is most certainly Louisiana.

Anyway, as for living things, such as myself, I wore this out and about Sunday. Checked out Meeps and got these sweet new shades for $14 . Definitely check out their phenomenal selection if you're in the DC area.

B and I finally made it to Ray's the Steaks this weekend, too. Soooo delicious. The bacon and sauerkraut and steak tartare deviled eggs were just sinful. Of course our steaks were incredible, but most importantly, there was a great selection of good, affordable wines. That is key in my book.

Squeaky Clean

I got this dress at some point last year and wore it to death last summer. I hadn't really thought about it until I was looking for something in my closet to pair with this belt that I got at the thrift store. Pretty fabulous combo they turned out to be. Another thought: I'm never buying another new belt again. I snapped up 4 absolutely perfect belts at the thrift store for under 20 bucks and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchases.

Lady Don't Tek No

You never know how versatile a piece of clothing can be until you get a chance to play around with it. I never would have thought of this zipper top as essential, but it's safe to say that now I firmly believe it is. I'm enamored with the scuba-like quality of the zipper and the wonderful bright color. So many possibilities...

Goth in Hot Weather

Like most of the fashion universe right now, I've been inspired by Givenchy's Fall Couture show (and pretty much everything else Ricardo Tisci churns out as of late), so when I saw this Complex Geometries piece in the Weardrobe Closet, I knew I had to try it with lace-up boots. It also prompted me to check out more Complex Geometries pieces. As you might assume from the name, the line has so many magnificently-shaped pieces. I'm now making it my mission to add one to my closet.

A is for Amy who fell down the stairs...

This incredible piece is courtesy of the Weardrobe Closet and it has given me a whole new perspective on the bubble hem. In the past, I haven't been so much a fan, but the added volume in the skirt gives this piece such an interesting shape, don't you think? The fabric is quite cool, as well. It's kind of a chambray. Needless to say, I am in love and will have to hope and pray I can find a similar creation on Topshop now.

B and I have been meaning to check out the Glover Park Cemetery for a while now and this weekend we finally got our act together and did it. I always like to visit old cemeteries. I think they're so beautiful and peaceful. Think I'm weird? I probably am.











Paris has the best cemeteries. My favorite is Cimetière de Montparnasse. Here a few leftover photos I just-so-happened to have on my computer from when I visited, many centuries ago.

So this is something you'll rarely see... a work outfit. Yes, I do not usually bore you with my mundane corporate uniforms, but I thought this one warranted a photo or two (mainly for the shoes' sake).

A couple of you inquired if the Margiela shoes in my last post were comfortable. It's funny you ask, because B was trying to figure out how the hell I was going to walk in them when they first arrived. They're actually well-balanced and perfectly fine to walk around in, but probably not across town without a cab - does that make sense?

...and in case you're wondering, this Proenza pair is unexpectedly comfortable. The sole is very well-padded.

This was my outfit for a delicious dinner date Sunday night. B and I went to one of our favorite restaurants, Brasserie Beck, which has the most amazing fries and curry mayo for dipping. I can scarf down a disturbing amount.

The dress is the result of a quick peruse through Secondi, which proved extremely dangerous and I'll be much more cautious before I venture there with my wallet in hand again. This was the first thing I saw when I walked in and my hands frantically grabbed for it before I was even able to process what was happening. I'm not going to tell you how much I got it for, because you might hunt me down if I did. The shoes, well... I cracked.
