So I'll get to the point: the boots and leggings are old, the boot bling is from a neato western store B and I stopped at last weekend, and the top is from the Weardrobe Closet - a fabulous idea that allows members to borrow items for a week. It's a great opportunity to "try it before you buy it" and I think I might be needing one of these tops in gray...

Land of the Pine

Land of the Pine

One more of the shoes before they go back in the closet so another pair gets a turn. They just seem to spruce up the most simple outfits so nicely! A few of you asked where I got them - Urban Outfitters, my friends. Best place to find interesting, but cheap sandals. Here they are online.

We spent this past weekend at a friend's farmhouse near Boone, NC. Here are a few pics from the weekend...

I love this pretty jade necklace that R got for me in China.

I'm not sure what summer days were like before I had a long, comfy skirt like this one, but I'm pretty sure they were missing something. I think I might be living in this skirt this summer, for serious.

Other things I need to make my summer complete: a kite, at least one camping excursion, and a dog...

...preferably this one:

Gettin' Warmer

Wagon Wheel - Old Crow Medicine Show

I'm back from a relatively adventurous weekend in western Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina (we were busy). I have tons of photos sort go through, but here's a start...

I'm kind of loving my sad little faux Givenchys. I've been wanting a new pair of flat-ish sandals and haven't been too enthused about many, until now. I don't even mind the bizarre half heel as much as I would have thought.

Did all of you have a nice weekend?

A Few Things...

So B and I are heading out today for a nice long summery weekend, which gets my mind mulling over a few beautiful summery things...

Zipped Suits
I really want a Bond-girl-style zipped bathing suit.
(l to r) Loeffler Randall zipper bandeau bikini, American Apparel shiny zipper-front bodysuit, Lisa Marie Fernandez bustier bikini, Cheap Monday bea bikini

Grey Ant Sunglasses
I've been thinking about buying these super-thick Grey Ant wayfarers for almost a year now. Maybe this summer I'll actually buy them.

Flower zip skirt
I might actually purchase this floral zip skirt today, for fear it will sell out and my life will never be whole again.

Have a nice weekend all!

opera outfit

Sorry for the lapse in blogging. B and I are going out of town for the long weekend and things have been a little hectic. Last night we saw Turandot at the Kennedy Center, which was quite the spectacle. It's kind of a bizarre, sinister love story and the set design was wonderfully disconcerting. My favorite part was these giant masks of Turandot's beheaded suitors that streamed with red yarn to symbolize blood - deliciously morbid. I was disappointed I couldn't find more pics online to share with you.

As for my opera-going outfit, I was feeling a bit opulent, I suppose. I've had this blouse in my closet for a while and lord knows why I haven't worn it sooner. Better late than never, right?

Cruel Summer

Cruel Summer

Cruel Summer

I appreciate cool weather, but this is starting to get ridiculous. I should not be wearing pants and a jacket in May and still feeling chilly. The only upside is it provided a nice excuse to bust out this ridiculously preppy old school Ralph Lauren jacket I've been storing for a while. It feels so wrong, but sooo right.

Another twisted love affair I'm having is with these shoes. If I add one more impractical pair of shoes to my closet, I will be teetering on Imelda Marcos levels. (but it doesn't make me love them any less)

Must Be a Sucker for It

must be a sucker for it

must be a sucker for it

I couldn't pass this fringed beauty up when I saw it was on sale for a mere $20. I'm pretty excited suede is making a comeback. Granted it can be hard to clean, but I love richness it adds to a garment. Another random musing: I need to wear these shoes more often...

California Stars (LP Version) - Billy Bragg and Wilco

B and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Komi, which was a truly divine experience. I was pleasantly surprised how much the atmosphere lent itself towards conversation. I feel like that's an exception, not the norm for "fancy" restaurants. Kind of refreshing to have good food in a low key environment. Even so, that didn't mean I passed up an opportunity to dress up! I'm not gonna lie, I'm stoked skirt suits are back. I feel all 90s-SJP-ish :-)

...I got married!

Since I have yet to find another use for my wedding dress (except for wearing it around the house, which I plan to do one day), I thought I'd put it to work on z blog. As I sit here eating my unfrozen wedding cake topper with my lovely husband, I can think of a lot of things I loved about my wedding, because it was pretty damn perfect, but top of the list would definitely be all the people that were there. If there was one thing I learned from the whole experience, it's that weddings are the best excuse to have everyone you love all in one place!

I love this dress so damn much. It is Carolina Herrera-designed and the overlay is Spanish mesh, which I love because it is very soft and gives a vintage feel.

I love Dusty Miller.

Note to future brides: long veils are great UNLESS faced with gale-force winds on wedding day.

There are a lot of funny things going on in this pic.

We had a pretty hott wedding party.

FYI, I have no idea where or how they got these beers so quickly.

Best group photo ever.

Fragrance ad, right?

This never would have been so beautiful without the magic of Allison Jackson of Pineapple Productions. Best wedding planner in existence, as far as I'm concerned. She was so helpful and amazing, I can't even imagine having such an incredible event without her hand in it. And all photos are by the most talented Holland Photo Arts.
