gimme some sugar, baby

gimme some sugar, baby

A blizzard hits DC the day I’m supposed to leave on my ski vacation – the irony is not lost on me.  Hopefully we’ll make it out today, but I’m not holding my breath.

After learning my flight was canceled (on Friday, no snow had hit the ground yet), I decided sledding was going to be an integral part of keeping my sanity during this whole debaucle.  And it was.  DC can be a lot of fun when we get a big dump of snow.  My friends and I had a great time tromping around the neighborhood, testing the limits of my antique-quality Flexible Flyer (which I should have photographed), and marveling at some horrific moments in driving decisions.  Later on, I went to a friends’ holiday party, feeling very smug about my ability to reconcile holiday party dress and snow-appropriate footwear.  My (very) small successes with practicality always make me feel clever.

The first two pictures are making me swoon. You are one freaking glamourous lady! Though snow storms are frustrating, there really is nothing more beautiful than a fresh layer of snow…well, except that cape!

Love the fur cape and the boots in the last photos. I hope you can make it out. There is barely any snow left in Denver and it has been super sunny. xoxo

God, that cape has got to be the most inspiring thing I've seen in a long time. You look like a winter queen! How fun is the snow? We got trapped in a magical Christmas village on our way home from New England. Anyway, have a blast skiing. I know you'll do so in inemitable style! Is that a word? I don't even know…

Hahah WOW irony times like a million. At least you got to go sledding! It snowed in PA too, but I'm so anti-being col I've been staying by the fireside staying warm haha. And love the shoe-party wear compromise, it looks amazing!

Oh I love your fur coat, it's absolutely gorgeous. Very very pretty.
And your holiday party outfit is gorgeous. Very pretty.
We have literally no snow, and we should. I mean Canada is known for it's winters, but sadly no snow yet, well we''ve had a bit but not nearly enough to really call it a snowy winter.

Reply

I can't believe you have so much snow in DC!

And I love the boots in the last picture. Wedge heel? They look like the ones that Jane Aldridge did for Urban Outfitters. I'm sure they were a hit at the holiday party!
