Springing for Spring, Part Quatre

As you might have noticed earlier this week, I've got my eye on the Chanel Spring '09 collection big-time.

Of course I love the two-tone stockings and hope to find a cheaper version in the near future, but that's not the only thing that I love. The white flowing blouse with the corset one piece might be my favorite of the whole collection. I love the Victorian feel of the crinkled sheer fabric and the jewel chain accent. The black lame bathing suit is phenomenal and I pray that the American Apparel gods might bless me with a similar creation. Oh, and I'm a big fan of that big sun goddess necklace, too.

This tunic kind of makes me feel like a flamenco dancer. It's very fun to move your arms around in it. They played Harry Belefonte's "Jump in the Line" at the bar I was at (which made my night) and some guy said "I brought the party to the bar" (in reference to my shirt).

Black Tie

Wash FM, this bud's for you.* Currently listening to Merry Christmas from the Family

For some reason I was feeling festive last night - maybe because we're in the Christmas countdown now. Sorry this is not the greatest quality photo. We have crappy lighting in our apartment and this was the best one of the bunch, unfortunately.

Black Tie

Rapt in Maille necklace, Nolita top, John Varvatos for Converse vest, Chanel purse, J Brand jeans, Report Signature shoes

*This is in no way means I support Wash FM's horrid tradition of playing non-stop Christmas music from Thanksgiving until Christmas, but I might suggest they put this one in the rotation.

Little Gray Riding Hood

Currently listening to Ce Jeu

I got this magnificent cape off the Etsy shop 658GreenStreet and I love it so much! I was so glad it was cold enough today to wear it. I feel like a character in a fairy tale who wanders into a place she shouldn't be. Oh and on our walk, B. remarked upon the irony of the fact that I was wearing a rabbit fur cape (vintage! I'm not evil!) and there were two greyhounds being walked behind us. I was lucky I wasn't mauled!

Chloe Sevigny's Wishlist on Shopbop!

Chloe Sevigny is always fun to watch because she always looks so purposeful and never loses her own sense of self. I was thrilled to see Shopbop has her wishlist on their site. I was quite a fan of these Jil Stuart pants and these incredible VPL thigh-high stockings (seen below).

Caroline Snow, You Crafty Crafty Woman

So I was browsing though my blog updates and Jak and Jil had the following picture of Caroline Snow (right):

Had there been a record playing, it would have skipped. That coat is unbelievable! Of course, I should not have been too surprised it's Maison Martin Margiela. Martin Margiela is the purposefully under-the-radar Belgian deconstructionist designer, who is often quite the fav with fashion insiders, such a Nicholas Ghesquiere. My search for this masterpiece proved...depressing.

Over-the-Knee

I wanted to rock my over-the-knee boots last year, but didn't for fear of looking like a harlot. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw these bad boys go down the runway this fall.

I ran into K2 (there is already a fore mentioned K.) at the Big Hunt on Friday and greatly admired her outfit. Unfortunately, I don't have a great full-length shot of her, but I did manage to capture both halves.

Wacked Out New Radiohead Video

By "wacked out," I mean I don't get it, but it doesn't make me love it any less.

Not a Sermon, Just a Thought

Beyonce's new song is almost as annoying as the new Free Credit Report commercial. This does not help (make sure to watch for the scarf mishap at the end).

Whimsical super-genius Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (AKA JC/DC) made his fashion show out of animated Lego. Friggin' awesome! I want to see more designers be less serious and more fun like JC/DC!

Springing for Spring: Part Trois

Continuing in our theme, another one of my favs for spring is Stella McCartney. I know, not very original, but her stuff always looks so comfortable and understated and wearable. There's something to be said for that. I love the unexpected details like the hood on the beaded tunic and the sparkly chemise under the blue over-sized sweater. I'm a huge fan of the bandage-style bathing suits and the color scheme, as well. Oh, I'm definitely looking forward to wearing some loose menswear outfits "in the islands."

Wining

On Saturday, I took a fun-filled impromptu winery tour around Middleburg with some friends. We started at the Tasting Room in town for Boxwood Vineyards. It was fun because you can put money on a card and swipe it in a machine for each wine you want to taste - like an arcarde! They said they'd never heard that analogy before. Next, we went to Chrysalis Vineyards, which was... marginal at best. Sarah's Patio Red was better left on the patio, let's just put it that way. The last was definitely the best: Piedmont Vineyards. Not only was it beautiful (see pics below), it actually had great wines! The peach wine is the only thing I would pass on in the future, but I took a bottle of the Piedmont Hunt Country Red home (it had a pretty label) and I'll be interested to see what B. thinks of it.

Thanks to M. and V. for taking some of these pics!
